Voice Note: The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (S06E06)
A tv scholar newsletter / We Must Discuss collab on one of the best shows on television.
It’s a cool fall evening in Vancouver, I’m seated across from my friend Brittany with a magnet-attached mic on my sweater, and we both agree: It’s difficult to capture our love for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in the written word—despite both being writers.
Brittany writes We Must Discuss on Substack and I write this TV newsletter, but there’s something about the verbosity of the housewives themselves — through confessionals, arguments, gossip — that lends itself much better to conversation than it does to the written word. At least, for now…a deep-dive academic analysis is brewing. There’s so much to critically unpack in such a meaty franchise.
For tonight on this couch, I just wanted to yap and giggle about everything that happened in this incredible, farty sixth episode of the sixth season. We’re not calling this a podcast. Perhaps an unedited voice note. Just a friendly chat between friends. Interested in more? Let us know and we’ll make it happen.
What else?
The second dispatch of “Trust Me, I Watch Everything,” my new biweekly column with Yahoo, is out! Don’t read the comments, trust me.
I wrote about how much I love Matlock, recent controversy aside, for my other column in The Cut. I’m serious about getting Skye P. Marshall an Emmy nomination.
My recaps of The Morning Show for Elle continue, with a big Greta Lee shocker this week.
I reviewed Boots for TheWrap, which I enjoyed but had conflicted feelings about.
Podcasting is my passion!
Obsessed!!! More voice notes!!! 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
