6 shows I'm watching in October
Mike Flanagan is back! Plus two zombie shows, more Jedi, and white saviours.
6. Ahsoka (Disney+)
My score: 65/100
Gosh, I don’t know if I’ll ever learn my lesson investing in Star Wars shows that aren’t Andor. Ahsoka was basically made with fans of Star Wars: Rebels in mind, the animated series that aired for 133 episodes. But I wish I had only easter eggs to complain about in this season of television. Ahsoka is too short to really get to any meat, for characters like Ahsoka (what exactly was her arc?) or Sabine (her arc being just “I must find Ezra”) and for the plot as a whole. This essay in Primetimer really gets into the weeds of this massive letdown but also points to some broader issues about how Intellectual Property projects are being handled in the current television landscape. Bleak.
Is it gay? They literally traveled to another galaxy and still no gay people. Unless…the witches? Yes let’s do a season of Star Wars about gay witches.
5. The Fall of the House of Usher (Netflix)
